In Guardians, Danish artist Ida Lissner explores the paradoxes and tensions in how we understand the relationship between nature and technology, utopia and dystopia, sublimity and deformity, and the foreign and the familiar. The digital images collected in this book are made up of millions of 3D scans from nature and inhabited by Lissner’s ethereal protector spirits and creatures. These works are visions of a parallel universe haunted by the human imprint, where the “natural” and more-than-human thrive. They ask what it means to remain: to witness, to remember, to transform.
